Why I Love Apple aka: making your way up reddit

Why I Love Apple (wired.com) got 183 points at this writing on reddit.com. Did anyone read the article, or do they just see Apple in the title, and mod it up right away? The article is garbage, 12 or so paragraphs to tell me how cool it is that a date and time field can dynamically change depending on the width of your application. Nice feature sure, but 12 paragraphs!

And almost all of Apple’s products display these touches.

It’s that one that gets me, because seriously, almost all of Apple’s applications are junk. Not so much junk as they stand alone, but junk when you compare them to what else is out there.

confusion on Mac OS Tiger versus 10.4

There I am, sitting in front of someone’s Mac, tuning it up a little, and they ask me if they should go buy “Tiger”. I can already tell by the abomination of folder bezels and other UI shortcomings, the user is in fact already running Tiger.

This is about the fifth time this has happened to me. It’s also about the fifth time I have had to explain Tiger == 10.4, aka: you already have it. However, that God Damn Steve Jobs has people convinced, you NEED Tiger. Tiger is special, it’s extra, and not everyone gets to just hump around with a computer running Tiger. Apparently you have to join a special club.

With that, I ask, am I the only one this happens to? Do I just happen to hang around a group of people that are that easily marketed to?

Microsoft’s current Office footer, beyond strange

Maybe it’s me, I have no idea, but this just strikes me as totally out of character for Microsoft. Their new web page for the latest and greatest version of Office, shown here, has some pretty strange verbiage at the bottom of the page.

To quote:

People spend more time with Office than the love of their life. Since thats a big sacrifice, we want our customers to love using Office. That means we spend time listening, sharing, building relationships, generating innovative ideas, and designing with our customers. The end result is software that our customers want to wrap their arms around and kiss.

Cheyenne Kimball, and now begins your decline

Ok, I think I skipped an episode or two. I saw the one last night, and caught the last week clips as well. So, you want the hippy homo to be your boyfriend in the music video do you? But mommy won’t let you, cause “the label is not into it”.

This leads into background commentary by my little hottie Cheyenne in which she says “I know I should listen to my label”. You have got to be kidding me, this is the most ill-managed future star on the planet.

Want to get ass raped by your label, sign with Sony. Curious, who is her label anyway… Pft, Epic, division of Sony BMG, aka, rootkit pushers. Ok, it all makes sense now, destined for stardom, at least, whatever Sony thinks that is these days. This should last a few years, then she will sleep with a few middle aged producers who will steer her in the right direction. So for now, she is musically fucked, in a few years, she will just be fucked, hooray!

Album of the Day
A friend of mine turned me on to this band. One of my favorite songs so far is Lloyd, I`m Ready To Be Heartbroken. Good band, very Cardigans in feel to me. Check them out, they are called Camera Obscura, which is a pretty cool name, and also serves as a drawing device of the past.

Craigslist.org seems to have fixed the problem

In my previous post, I pinned down a Craigslist.org issue with Mac IE on OS 9, seems the issue has been resolved. Granted, they never bothered to email me back, so they still suck butt.
