Generation X, that’s the one I fall into, apparently there is a generation Y as well. Yesterday, I learned the newest generation has been coined “Generation @”. As much as I want to think this is a cool thing, I don’t. Sure, the @ symbol has some history, history that certainly holds a warm and gooey spot in my heart. I just don’t want to give up the @ symbol to a generation of retards.
I am herby renaming generation @ to generation @retarded. And one day, when someone stops sitting on retarded.com, I will feel for their pain for all the stupid emails they get to i@retarded.com. I despise the @retarded generation, they can be summed up in simple categories.
1) Ignorant
2) Careless
3) MySpace
4) Complacent
Let’s not take my word for it, I can explain by example. I was shown a MySpace profile of a sixteen year old’s dribble about how upset she was that two of her friends were killed in a car accident. This happened in my town, a few weeks ago. Don’t get me wrong, death sucks, and I am all too familiar with it, but this is just where all four of my steps come into play.
If you wear a hat with the bill so bent it is non longer a hat, drive a truck that you need to install a special step onto it to get into the cab, and then go driving around drunk at 70mph, you kind of have it coming. The irony, the parents stated they bought the kid the truck cause it was the safest truck they could find. They probably had good intentions, but people who live and breathe Consumer Reports might as well demote them selves to generated @retarded as well.
Seriously, Mom, Dad, when your kid put on those 48 inch tires, did you not think the safety of the truck just might be compromised? More irony, I would be willing to bet this MySpace girl barely knew these guys. Sure, I am sure they were in her “friends” lists, but who the hell does not try to get in a “friends” list of age 16, scantily clad, and stupid.
One day I will devote an entire post to the stupidity of MySpace.com, for now, its back to my other bullet points. We have the record companies fucking us left and right, we have the RIAA and MPAA fucking us just as hard, we have schools stomping on free speech, we have insane movie prices, soon coming restrictions on how I can use my Tivo and other media, SONY pounding us in the ass with a “rootkit”. The list goes on and on, generation @retarded is the generation that is getting gouged in every way.
Getting gouged is not so much something new, but having such a short attention span that you are not willing to speak up about it is. Those “God damn hippies” I hate so much, certainly have a hell of a lot more respect coming from me than these @retarded’s. At least they got together and tried to do something, I may not have agreed, but they were motivated.
$1.99 for a iPod compatible video clip of a show that was just aired, and you can watch for free, and apparently, millions are buying these things. Where are the MySpace blogs with the kids bitching about all this. MySpace, the glorified instant messenger, lacking the user base with the capacity to turn it into something powerful. The numbers are huge, membership is larger than almost any site out there, yet with those numbers, they can not do a damn thing to get something changed.
Generation @retarded is too busy posting one sentence dribble:
a: last night was so fun
b: yeah, you were sooooo drunk
d: was I there, I was tooooo drunk LOL
a: dude, was that last night or last week, I am so stoned
I give up, generaion @retarded has me beat, I have no way to notify people I post to my blog, I have no built in IM messenger system, I have no ego boosting degrees of separation system in place. For those reasons, the masses are just not going to read this, let alone get to the end of it. Just in case you have… Dude, I can not believe you shaved your pubes!

Comment by Dru 12.08.05 @ 5:16 pmdamn fine point, then again, thats part of the whole myspace thing, there are those 2% of users who are over 30, and just looking for some young snatch
Comment by Kurt Moore (admin) 12.09.05 @ 1:13 amyou dont sound too far off from @retarded yourself. just because you may have marginally more sense than to be involved in some idiotic online conversation on myspace it still doesnt give you the moral right to judge these people when they haven’t done anything to you. for example, when some guy rapes you in the ass, you have the moral right to be offended at what happened to you. so, until all of MySpace.com users collectively take turns raping your anus, you do not have the right to be pissed off about something as silly as the “MySpace.com” internet culture.
Comment by Namacus Lastamus 12.28.05 @ 2:48 amNamacus Lastamus must be a myspace user, as he missed the point, thinking my entire post was just about myspace, which it was not.
