Maybe it’s me, I have no idea, but this just strikes me as totally out of character for Microsoft. Their new web page for the latest and greatest version of Office, shown here, has some pretty strange verbiage at the bottom of the page.
To quote:
People spend more time with Office than the love of their life. Since thats a big sacrifice, we want our customers to love using Office. That means we spend time listening, sharing, building relationships, generating innovative ideas, and designing with our customers. The end result is software that our customers want to wrap their arms around and kiss.
I have saved an image of it, just in case they change it, but this has to be the damn strangest page I have ever seen.
Mission. One of our greatest challenges is imbuing our products with “spirit” and “magic”. This is not something that is easily…
WTF is “imbuing” doing on a web page, at least one potentially read by the software illiterate? Maybe it is an internal review page, I have no idea, it is public for the time being at least, and I for one, think it’s a little goofy.

I think this is the best page microsoft have on their site. They are telling their customers *exactly* what they are trying to do with Office, and making honest commitments.
If it was any other web 2.0 company it’d be cool and the gang. Why does Microsoft have to get the shit.
Comment by Des Traynor 07.19.06 @ 5:39 amYeah, kinda agree, but “imbuing”, seriously, did you have to look at up as well?
