Why Daring Fireball is losing me

John Gruber, he is a really good writer, I read his blog daily. A few weeks ago, he went full time, and blogs for a living. Congrats on that. He has consistently had awesome articles, if only a little sparse on the posting times. That has changed, he posts so much now I have a hard time keeping up.

Lately, it has been a lot of link posting, which is fine, I do it here as well. I always thought the guy checked out the links, and at the very least, gave them a once over for quality. Apparently not…

From the Department of Doing One Thing and Doing It Well: iStache, a simple image editor that lets you add moustaches to any picture.

I downloaded it, tried it, its garbage. The website has no instructions. Good. I like apps that take no brains to work. This app just sucks. You launch it, greeted to an “open” dialogue, I guess it wants an image. Ok, find one, load it. Now I can pick a mustache, and place it on a face. Problem is, you can not move them once you place them, you have to undo, and place again. Wrong size, undo and place again. The staches don’t even look that good.

From now on, I am skipping the link posts, and just reading his articles.
